Recently, I decided to take charge of my health. In practical terms it looked like firing my current doctor, saying, “No” to events and going to sleep by 10:30.
I’ve done this for a few weeks now and it’s been surprisingly difficult. I realized why many of us don’t change even when we know it’s best for us.
Change is uncomfortable.
Disappointing others, giving up activities and sacrificing things we’re used to are not easy. It’s awkward. It’s different. It can feel scary.
If we stay the course, what feels new will become routine. It’s how we build self-trust. Committing to self-care requires self-love, courage and the belief that everything will work out and everyone who matters will understand.
If you’re finding it difficult to take care of yourself, you may be a victim of gas lighting, anxiety and depression, a narcissist or someone who is histrionic. Read our posts this week to find out.
