Best of Our Blogs: March 12, 2019

I’ve been reading Dr. Samantha Brody’s book Overcoming Overwhelm, and so far, I’m loving her take on something many of us experience daily. Instead of putting a bandaid over our stress, she invites readers to do take real steps to “dismantle it, intentionally, one step at a time.”

What does overwhelm look like?

She says overwhelm can manifest as physical illness, and emotionally as psychological disorders like depression and anxiety.

One way to manage overwhelm is to become aware of what you’re willing to change and not ready to change right now. Another thing you can begin to do is figure out what your values are, which can help you gain clarity with decisions and eliminate things that keep you busy but don’t align with what’s important to you.

Sometimes feelings of overwhelm stem from childhood. If so, you might want to read our top post this week, which addresses issues of unworthiness and shame from your past.
