One of the most difficult things about having chronic illness is the daily decisions of asking yourself how are you going to spend this moment?
On bad days, when you’re cooped up in bed, there’s the fear you’re missing out. There is the guilt that you’re not spending time with your kids, your partner or at work.
Even on the good days, when you feel almost “normal,” there are a multitude of competing activities. You feel better so you want to tackle that project, exercise or take your kids somewhere fun. You also don’t want to overdo it spiraling down into another bad day.
To prevent the overwhelm that comes with making decisions about your day, tune into what you need instead of what you think you should be doing. Rest when you can. Most importantly, bring presence to what you choose to do, and accept and forgive yourself for not being able to do everything.
