Best of Our Blogs: March 8, 2019

I’ve been hiking again recently and it’s been nice. But it’s also brought up something I forgot about.

Whenever I hike, there comes a point where it gets really hard. Maybe it’s all uphill, the terrain is muddy or it’s going on for way too long. When I’m pushed, tired and ready to give up, that’s when all my fears and true beliefs are revealed. That’s when I gain clarity of how I deal with stress, and challenge in other areas of my life.

Do you complain and gripe the whole way until you get to the end? Do you rise to the occasion and motivate others to keep going? Are you so afraid of making others uncomfortable that you go out of your way at the expense of your own safety?

The next time you go for a hike, run a race or do anything that stretches you, get curious about it. The experience could give clues about who you are, how you confront stress and discomfort, and what you need to work on.
